A pre-bonsai is a small tree with specific features, that with a little work and some care can become a beautiful bonsai. The pre-bonsais are grown from seedlings to get a good nebari, which is the base of the trunk, fine roots near the trunk, and several design possibilities. This pre-bonsai line will allow you to model and design the bonsai in the style you want or that the tree indicates.

Ficus carica. Pre-bonsai 9 years. Fig tree. These are typical Mediterranean trees, they live better outside because they need both the sun and the cold to produce fruit. It is a deciduous tree with fast growth and plenty of edible fruits.

Location: Ideally in a Mediterranean climate, outdoors all year round. In cooler climates, ensure they are always protected from freezing temperatures.

Watering: Generously in summer, decreasing in winter.

Curiosities: Flowers are found inside the fig. Most of the cultivated fig trees only have female flowers. To be able to be fertilized a male fig tree is required as it has both male and female flowers.
